I was first introduced to the power of positive affirmations by Louise Hay, when I read her book You Can Heal Your Life
After reading the book, it became my bible for a couple of months. I kept it next to the bath and every time I got home I ran a bath and then lay there doing powerful positive affirmations and working through the various exercises in the book.
The power of positive affirmations has been enormous in my life, and when I forget to do them for a while I REALLY notice the difference.
Louise explains that if you were to take a three year old child and sit them in the center of a room, and then shout at them, berate them, tell them how horrible and useless and despicable they are, maybe hit them a few times, and keep doing this day after day, you would be left with a child who was completely destroyed. What kind of potential would that child realize in their lifetime?
However, if you were to take that same child and tell them how wonderful they are, how special, how valued, you would have a child that could achieve anything their heart desired.
You are that child!
The person you are inside is like that child in the center of the room and if you are spending all your time screaming and berating and criticizing that child inside, then you are stifling your own potential just as surely.
At first it can be a little difficult to use the power of positive affirmations. If your mind has become used to its negative talk it will rebel against you at first like an errant child.
Persevere, and you will get better and better at it. You exercise power over your mind in the same way you exercise any other muscle and gradually build up your strength.
Start with a couple of powerful positive affirmations such as: 'I love and approve of myself' and affirm this multiple times a day. At first it may be difficult, but as the days go by you'll gradually start to feel that it is becoming TRUE!
Your thoughts create your reality!
You are in control of your life and you choose which thoughts to think, which then form the basis of your reality. Whatever you believe will be what you experience. Start choosing to think with the power of positive affirmations.
It does take some work; it is like a detox for your mind, you have to weed out all those limiting beliefs and negative ideas.
Daily Positive Affirmations
A wonderfully powerful positive affirmation is:
I am open and receptive to all good!'
