Romantic Summer

Thick, heavy air and a fresh breeze. Bright, pastel colors of mint and dirty shades of pink. Dimmed colors of blue, fusions of pink, gray and broken shades of white are the colors for the summer type.

Against stereotypes the summer is a cold type. Like the whole nature in the summer. You can easily discern dimmed and powdery colors, as if faded in the sun light. There are no vivid dazzling colors but pale, light pastels. Lazy and static. They correspond well to the peace and quiet of summer days.

Almost 80% of Poles are summer types. They are romantic like the summer. They have got rosy complexion with slightly visible veins, gray brown moles and freckles, and gray eye brows and hair (never golden). Such is a typical summer. There are three subtypes that are quite difficult to distinguish.

A strong summer is wrongly described as a spring especially with an unsuitable hair color. Such mistakes are due to the similarities between the types. You can recognize this type, however, thanks to the redness of the cheeks, the similarity of hair and eyebrows, and cold, usually gray or blue - gray eyes, and darker eyebrows when compared to the spring.

The summer usually tolerates sunlight well. The first tan is red but after a few days it becomes of a beautiful olive shade. The only exception are persons of extremely fair complexion ( one variation of this type ). They find it difficult to get tanned. They often end up with red, irritated skin.

Make-up for the summer should be natural and emphasizing its assets. As its complexion is fragile the make-up must be especially subtle and delicate. The foundation and powder should be of cold shade: pink or cold beige. Never warm beige or peach. The summer shouldn’t use self-tanners, terracotta blushes or dark, matting foundations. They usually have many moles and freckles and so they shouldn’t use matting foundations and heavy powders.

I wouldn’t recommend compact powders which are too heavy for delicate complexion.

As for the eye shades, they should match the color of the iris: gray, blue and also pink and violet.. They should be "dirty" and dimmed, never bright. Summer types should also avoid eye make- up in contrastive colors. Being a plain and unpretentious type the summer should stay away from contrasts and extravagancies. It looks much better in subtle, delicate and romantic pastels. Lips make-up must be in cold tones, as well. The most suitable would be glossy, pink lip shiners and pearl, icy shades of lipstick. The liner should be the natural color of the summer’s lips. Dying hair, one should choose cold colors and shades of gray. Never golden or yellow. Optimal shades would be: gray-blond, gray-brown, pearl- white, and all shades of brown.

He or she summer can style themselves in a very trendy and modern way using appropriate (pastel) colors and tones. They definitely shouldn’t wear dark colors.

Black or brown costumes and suits can be replaced with brighter ones that suit their type.

Finally, I’d like to comment on one thing connected with the colorist analysis of different types descriptions. I’ve browsed through some ladies magazines lately where I fount a few tips on how to define your type. According to them, it is easy to classify one’s type and name optimal colors: e.g. if you are a blue- eyed blond – you must be the summer, if you are a dark-eyed brunette you must be "the winter". If this, however, was so simple, everyone would know what’s best for him/her and a profession of a colorist would be unnecessary.
