Plastic surgery can seem like an intense and even scary thing, but it doesn't have to be. Plastic surgery does not have to be extensive either. Perhaps you don't want your entire face to change, but there are some minor surgeries that can make a big difference in your overall appearance. For example, the eyebrows-their position and shape-can define and improve the appearance of your face. A simple eyebrow lift is a fairly minor procedure that can make a significant difference in your appearance.
Many people, women in particular between the ages of 40 and 60 begin to have drooping eye-brows. This can make you look sad and angry when you are simply relaxed. When the eyebrows begin to droop it also affects the upper eye-lids, which can become saggy-also making your eyes look smaller. The forehead is also affected and can display unattractive wrinkles. An eye-brow or forehead lift can help solve some of these problems.
It is important to be well-informed before you choose to go into a surgery. The best candidates for a brow lift will have elasticity to their skin (this applies to most facial procedures) and will not smoke. Smoking reduces elasticity in the skin and jeopardizes the recovery and the overall success of the procedure. Those who do smoke should at least be willing to stop just prior to the procedure and during the recovery period.
The recovery period has several stages. You should be back to work in about seven to ten days, but anything strenuous or involving high levels of exertion should be avoided for a few weeks. It is also important that you limit and protect yourself from sun exposure for several months after the surgery. The surgery itself will take only one to two hours and can be done in a hospital or in a private office.
It is important to be aware of the risks associated with the procedure before deciding on undergoing the process. Risks can include infection, or nerve damage which can lead to uncontrollable muscles. While this procedure is routine and generally goes smoothly, be sure to ask your surgeon about all the risks involved so that you are well educated about the procedure. Side effects will generally include swelling, redness, itchiness, and some pain, but these will subside after a few days. Scars are generally not visible, as incisions are usually made in the hairline, but if you can see the scar, know that in most cases the scars will fade.
