Causes of Hair Loss

Many things can be blamed for causing hair loss. Things like surgery or sickness can cause you to loose hair quickly. Hair loss can be linked to stress and fatigue. Hair loss can also be attributed to an improper balance of hormones in the body. Hair loss can also happen soon after a woman gives birth to a baby. High levels of hormones will cause hair to temporarily fall out before a normal hair growth cycle can begin again. Another big factor of hair loss is genetics. If both of your parents and grandparents suffered from hair loss, then chances are that you will too. Things like diet, exercise and your health habits can also play a role in hair loss.

Certain kinds of medicine can cause hair loss as well. If you are on a medicine that you don’t know the side effects of, then you should take to your doctor to see if hair loss is a possible side effect. Before going on any medication, it is best to know all the side effects and be willing to accept any consequences.

Your Role in Hair Loss

There are things that you can do to prevent hair loss. Things like not wearing tight hairstyles and making sure that you take proper care of your hair are examples of things that you can do to prevent hair loss. Here are a list of things you can do to try to prevent hair loss:

  • Try not to wear tight ponytails on a regular basis
  • Try not to wear cornrows on a regular basis
  • Don’t use tight hair rollers
  • Get enough sleep
  • Eat healthy
  • Exercise
  • Talk to your doctor
