How to Get Rid of Dark Circles Under Eyes

This is probably due to the fact that lack of sleep can make your skin pale and it has also been known to reduce circulation somewhat.

For many, dark circles under eyes will diminish if you can get at least 8 hours of quality sleep a night, remembering that drugs, alcohol and stress greatly affect the quality of your sleep.

2. Apply an eye cream containing vitamin K and retinol

Dark circles under eyes may be caused by a deficiency of vitamin K and it has been found that the combination of Vitamin K and Retinol significantly reduces discoloration and puffiness around the eyes.

3. Don't rub your eyes

Your eyes can get itchy from allergies or other irritants and your first reaction is to rub them, but resist the temptation if you can. Rubbing breaks the small capillaries beneath your skin and that can cause puffiness and discoloration.

Instead of rubbing, try applying a small amount of Blistex’s Lip Medex under your eyes. This can help reduce the dark circles.

Unfortunately this can make your eyes water a little at first, however give it a few minutes for your eyes to adjust and you'll find that it does actually work. Just make sure not to get it in your eyes.

4. Dark circles under eyes may be caused by inflamed or enlarged veins beneath the skin.

Try taking Taken daily, this common herb (used to treat weak circulation, hemorrhoids and varicose veins) has been effective in reducing dark circles.

5. It helps a lot to treat the skin around your eyes while you sleep.

There are overnight facial masks you can get that can help with puffiness and discoloration, but you can also make your own

Covering your eyes with a cold cloth compress while you sleep can also help a lot.

6. Lie Quietly

First thing in the morning lie down in a calm quiet place and apply cool tea bags or cucumber slices to your closed eyes. Lie quietly for 15 minutes.

The tannin in the tea bags reduces swelling and discoloration; the cucumber slices will reduce puffiness while refreshing the appearance of skin around the eyes. You can also place over your eyes a cold washcloth wrapped in ice cubes or cold spoons.
